Hi WSA Surfers!
Here are the details for this weekend’s Salt Life WSA Championship Tour presented by Got Milk! event at the Huntington Beach Pier South Side. This is event number 7 in our Championship Series.

Parking is paid at the kiosks and credit cards are accepted.
WSA Head Judge, Pat Downey, has this to say about this weekends conditions and what the judges will be looking for - The judging criteria for this weekends event# 7 Huntington Beach, February 14-15, is as follows:
Good Morning Athletes -
This weekend looks like there will be 3-5+ foot surf for Saturday. Sunday there will be a drop in surf. There will be plenty of opportunities out there for you to show case your skill sets both Saturday and Sunday.
The judging criteria for this Saturday is as follows:
Crucially, taking off and successfully executing significant maneuvers on the steepest parts of heavier waves will differentiate scores.
Powerful and Progressive Combinations:
• Successfully navigate technical maneuvers and complete the when the wave provides the opportunity.
Flow and Connected Surfing:
• Maintain smooth transitions between sections and major maneuvers by effectively using the wave's speed and power.
Additional Judging Note: Surfers must exhibit full control and forward momentum when completing maneuvers on the closeout section for the ride to be considered complete and scored accordingly.
The surf drops so this will be Sundays criteria as follows:
Sunday, we will be looking for the surfers who can execute quality maneuvers in the pockets offered in the critical sections. Those surfers that can perform these quality moments with speed, power, flow, and variety of maneuvers, will receive the higher scores.
Please remember for maneuvers to be deemed complete, the surfer must show control and ride out in front of the white water. Any loss of control will hinder scoring. Also, please be mindful of crushing down sections on other competitors as it may cause an interference.

We will have Got Milk? providing regular and chocolate milk from Rockview Dairy . Also , Sticky Bumps will be providing wax. Sun Bum will have sunscreen for everyone! Our new official surf retailer sponsor, Jacks Surfboards, will be on the beach on Saturday and Sunday with a “spin-the-wheel” for prizes and a “Guess the Number of Jelly Beans in the Jar” to win a longboard on Saturday and a Beach Setup (two chairs, umbrella, two towels, and beach balls) on Sunday. Salt Life and 4 Ocean will be hosting a beach clean-up on Sunday with the prize of a new Doc Surf Prescription surfboard!
The city does not allow us to cook at the pier so you can support the local businesses. Please check out Sessions West Coast Deli on PCH next door to Jack’s. They are generously supporting WSA by providing breakfast and lunch to our staff. Also, Sur Coffee at 214 5th Street, who are providing coffee for staff.
