Welcome to the 2026-2027 Salt Life WSA Championship Tour presented by Got Milk? We have our season opener this weekend at San Onofre Trail 6. First round heat draws and schedule are attached and linked HERE.
We have a lot of new competitors joining this year -- welcome! Please be sure to check the schedule and heats to confirm you have been seeded in your proper division. It is easiest to view these on a computer. Be sure to look at the heat time above your heat, not below. If you are returning and are in the same division as last season, your points from last year are used to seed you into heats. If you aged up you will receive 80% of your points earned as the older surfer in the younger division to establish your seed. If you are new, you will be added to the bottom of the seed in alphabetical order..

We will have Kodiak Cakes pancakes, hot chocolate and Sur Coffee Saturday and Sunday and hot dogs Sunday only at the beach for surfers. We will also have a limited supply of water bottles. We recommend bringing your canteen full of water. We will have Sticky Bumps Surf Wax and Sun Bum Sunscreen for competitors. State beach parking for the event is $20 per day unless you have a California State Parks pass. It takes awhile to drive from the park entrance to Trail 6 at the posted speed limit and you will also have to park at the top of the trail and walk down to the beach. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to make your heats. If you are not checked in by the 5 minute mark, you may be replaced. If you miss your heat, you will not be automatically entered into another heat. You will instead go to the bottom of the alternate list. No refunds will be provided.
Please take some time to review the 2026/2027 Rulebook paying special attention to the Sportsmanship Clause on pg.12 and Heat Preparation Sections on pg. 9. There are also changes to our procedure for injury/illness and opting not to surf due to conditions.
Below are the head judge’s notes for the event:
This weekend looks like there will be some surf. There will be opportunities for all athletes to show their skills. Waves should be fair to good at time. Nice size waves with fairly light winds for high performance surfing.
Judging Criteria for this weekend -
“Judging will be focused on the surfers who can find and execute quality combinations. Some heats may have more opportunities than others. We will also be rewarding single MAJOR powerful and progressive maneuvers if performed in the most critical of sections. As always we are looking for clean execution with, speed, power and good timing/flow between these moments. These will be the comparison points.”
Please remember for maneuvers to be deemed complete the surfer must show control and ride out infront of the white wash. Any loss of control will hinder scoring.
*** Also please note, if you surf beyond the flag and are outside the competition area, you risk not being seen clearly ***
Longboard criteria:
The Surfer must perform controlled maneuvers in the critical section of the wave utilizing the entire board and wave using traditional longboard surfing. The surfer who performs this to the highest degree of difficulty with the most style flow, and grace will receive the highest score for a ride. Key elements for judges to consider: Nose riding in the critical section of the wave, variety of maneuvers, speed and power, control, commitment, control and foot work!

Please remember for maneuvers to be deemed complete the surfer must show control and ride out in front of the white wash. Any loss of control will hinder scoring. Also, please be mindful of crushing down sections on other competitors as it may cause an interference.
